Prof. Dr. Hakan Birkent was born in 1972 in Elazig. After completing his primary and secondary education in Elazığ, he entered GATA Military Medical Faculty in 1990 and in 1996, J.Tbp.Tğm. as graduated. After working in Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Public Security Command between 1997-1999, he started his specialty training in GATA ENT Department and he completed this training in 2002 and was appointed to Ankara Gendarmerie Hospital. He started to work as an assistant professor in GATA ENT Department in 2005 and between 2007-2008, he carried out studies on "diagnosis and treatment methods in voice and swallowing disorders" at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Washington University in Seattle, USA. Dr. Hakan Birkent, who gained the title of Associate Professor in 2010, worked as a faculty member at GATA ENT Department until his retirement in 2017.
He has scientific studies published in international and national refereed journals. He also has papers presented in international and national scientific meetings and various awards. He worked as a speaker and instructor in international and national scientific meetings, conferences, panels and workshops, especially on voice problems, swallowing disorders and airway stenosis.
